It's Saturday morning and I decided to sleep in... which means I awoke as the sun was peeking through my window at 6:22am (instead of my usual 4:15is wake-up call because I need to go to the bathroom and I can't go back to sleep). I opened my eyes to see a beautiful sunrise and my first thought was of Psalm 84:11... "For the Lord is a sun and shield; The Lord will give grace and glory; no good thing will He withhold from those who walk uprightly." My second thought... Lord, help me not apply the New Prosperity Gospel Translation to the words "good things".
God promises that, if we will walk with Him, He will not hold back in giving us anything that brings us closer to Him because, anything that brings us closer to Him... it is a good thing from an eternal perspective.
Whatever you are experiencing today, let it draw you more into His presence. Whatever thing you think you lack... let it cause you to lean closer into Him. Whatever mountains you face or valleys you must forge... let Him lead you and love you and learn to give your burdens to Him. He is a sun to light your way. He is a shield to preserve your soul. He will give you grace... He will give you glory... He is at work in all things and can make good of any circumstance as long as you are willing to view "good things" from His eternal point of view.
